The weather getting colder presents homeowners with plenty of new problems, exacerbated by the current cost of living crisis which is crippling many Irish people.
We get far, far too much rain on these shores, so that rules out sticking your washing out on a clothesline for pretty much half the year, with no real hope once the clocks go back.
That's an even bigger problem if you haven't the luxury of a tumble dryer available to you.
Clothes that aren't dried properly can often get mouldy from being damp and they harden and start to smell.
So any possible solution to that problem is welcomed - including the latest one from Laurence Smith, cleaning expert at In The Wash.
He told the Express: “Drying clothes indoors is not ideal because wet clothes release damp into the air which can lead to mould growth. However, it’s not unsafe to do so as long as your home is well ventilated. Luckily, you can take steps to reduce the moisture in the air.”
The expert explained that ideally homeowners should keep their wet laundry out of their living spaces, such as the living room, kitchen and bedroom.
Laurence warned: “Avoid drying laundry in the bathroom as it’s already a damp space and you don’t want to add more humidity to the air. Plus, clothes will take longer to dry in an already-damp room.
“If you have a dedicated laundry room, a spare room or garage, this is the best place to dry your clothes.
“Use a drying rack and place it in a room that you use infrequently, such as a laundry room, spare room or even dining room.
