In case you missed the news on Friday, former Ohio State All-American linebacker James Laurinaitis is returning to the sidelines in Ohio Stadium but in a coaching capacity. Buckeye head coach Ryan Day announced through a statement that Laurinaitis would be joining the coaching staff as a graduate assistant and working with the linebackers.
Laurinaitis becoming a part of the program again reminds us of when he was roaming sideline to sideline in the second level of some pretty good Ohio State defenses and wracking up trophies and accolades.
The three-time All-American is one of the most decorated and beloved linebackers to ever run out of the tunnel in the ‘Shoe and we’re commemorating the news with some of the best photos of Laurinaitis during his playing days at Ohio State.
Enjoy the trip down memory lane, and welcome back James. It never really felt right with him in Notre Dame colors anyhow, right Marcus Freeman.
