Best Nintendo Switch OLED prices: this upgraded model has a gorgeous display

Best Nintendo Switch OLED prices: Product shots of the switch and switch oled.

Nintendo consoles hold their value extremely well, which is both a good and bad thing. It means that if you're looking for the best Nintendo Switch OLED prices, you won't have much work to do – as we only really see deals crop up during seasonal sales periods. But on the bright side, if you're ever looking to sell or trade in your Nintendo Switch console, then you should get a fair offer.

We've been keeping tabs on the best Nintendo Switch OLED prices (and epic bundles) since its release back in 2021. The model typically retails for around $349.99/£309, but occasionally this has dropped to as low as £299.99 in the UK and $280 in the US back in 2022, which is the lowest price to date.

Whether you're a Mario superfan or prefer to rule Hyrule, the Nintendo Switch OLED is one of the best handheld consoles that money can buy, and we've found the best prices live right now in your region. We also have guides to the best Nintendo Switch games and Nintendo Switch accessories to get you set up.

The Nintendo Switch OLED

The best Nintendo Switch to date.

Release date: 8 October 2021 | Retail Price: $349.99/£309.99 | Screen size: 7-inch OLED (1280 x 720 HD) | Dimensions: 102 x 242 x 13.9mm (with Joy-Cons) 102mm x 239mm x 13.9mm (without Joy-Cons) | Weight: 0.71 pounds (0.93 with Joy-Cons)

Fantastic OLED display and touchscreen
Great speakers
Improved battery life
Could soon be replaced by a new model (if speculation is accurate).

The Nintendo Switch OLED model is an improvement on the original Nintendo Switch console (2017) with better battery life, an upgraded design with a tweaked kickstand, and of course – a beautiful glass OLED screen.

It's the fourth iteration of Nintendo's unique handheld console that can be played on the big screen, and we think that even at the higher asking price, ($349.99/£309.99, compared with $299.99/£259.99 for the original Switch) the OLED model is great value for money and a fair price to pay for a beautiful OLED screen when handheld gaming is a priority. Not only that, you get enhanced speakers and twice the amount of storage than the original model, not to mention a slightly improved dock that includes a LAN port, and a wider kickstand (which looks better).

Any savings on the Nintendo Switch OLED should be considered a win, since Nintendo very rarely slashes its prices and Nintendo products are renowned for holding their value extremely well (the original Nintendo Switch has been the same price for six years!). If the OLED sits a little outside of your budget, then consider its siblings instead, as the smaller Nintendo Switch Lite model can be had for just $199.99/£199.99, but this model is handheld only.

FAQS

Should I buy the Nintendo Switch or the Nintendo Switch OLED?

If you're buying a new Switch right now, you're most likely better off going for the Switch OLED. It has a better display, improved speakers, a dock with a LAN port included in the box, and double the amount of storage of the base Switch (although you can always get one of the best Switch SD cards).

The standard Switch might suit you better if you want to save a bit of money, given that all Nintendo Switch games are compatible with both consoles, and the standard Switch console is a little less weighty too.

If you already own a Nintendo Switch and are eyeing up the Switch OLED as an upgrade, it's probably not worth it unless you play in handheld mode a lot of the time or have long commutes. The display and sound when handheld will be far better, but you'll need to decide if this is worth the extra cost.

Will there be a Nintendo Switch Pro or Switch 2 coming out?

We don't have an official answer to this, but let's just say all signs so far point to yes. There was a tweet from Nintendo earlier this year that stated 'the Switch 2 will be announced "this fiscal year"', and my guess would be that we could potentially expect an announcement in March 2025, given that it will have been ten years since Nintendo announced the original Nintendo Switch, back in March 2015. Don't take my word on this, though. As we could be waiting much longer (or sooner) for any news.

If Switch 2 rumours are to be believed, the new model could provide gamers with a larger 4K display, and more ergonomic Joy-Con controllers – please Nintnedo, fix the drift!!. Speculation suggests it could also have backwards compatibility, which is great for current Switch owners who want to keep their games.

If you're wondering whether or not you should hold out for the Switch 2 model, it's hard to offer any solid advice. If you want a console right now, you can always trade-in your current model towards the new Nintendo Switch when the time comes, or if you're willing to wait (and we don't know how long for) then this could have some payoff in helping you save up towards it.
