HBO Max might have dropped the 'HBO' part of its name, but it still carries all of the premium TV channel's content. That includes The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Succession, The Last Of Us, Game Of Thrones and plenty else besides. Quite the catalogue.
Not only that, it also offers cinematic content from Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, DC and more, including The Zone Of Interest, Wonka, Barbie and Avatar.
When it first launched, the streaming service offered a free seven-day trial, but sadly that's no longer available. But as it launches in more countries, there's always the chance that it could make a return. In the meantime, let's see what savings are available.

HBO Max tiers
Like most other streaming services, Max offers different tiers depending on how you want to watch and how much you're willing to spend.
- Ad-Lite: $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year
- Ad-Free: $15.99 a month or $149.99 a year
- Ultimate Ad-Free: $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year
'Ad-Lite' is a very positive way of saying that the plan carries adverts. Ad-Free does away with them, while Ultimate Ad-Free adds 4K and HDR viewing.
Whichever tier you opt for, it's a significant outlay each month, especially if you also subscribe to another TV streaming service or two, plus one or two music ones such as Spotify and/or Tidal. It soon adds up.
Thankfully, you don't have to pay whole hog. There are some awesome deals around that shave sizeable chunks off the HBO Max price, saving you a few precious bucks. Let's save you some money.
Best HBO Max deals
At time of writing, all subscriptions come with the the Bleacher Report Sports add-on for free. This brings you live games from MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA and other leagues. It's due to cost $9.99 a month, but there's currently no word on when Max will start charging for it.
Max is available to watch on devices made by Apple, Roku, Google, LG, Microsoft, Sony and Vizio. There's plenty to look forward to: HBO has promised a Harry Potter TV adaptation will launch in 2026, while a third spinoff from The Big Bang Theory, season two of Game Of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon and A Knight Of Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, and Batman spinoff The Penguin are all in the works.
