Best Fantasy Premier League team for FPL GW6 featuring Man City and Spurs stars

A quick turnaround in fixtures means GW6 in Fantasy Premier League commences less than 48 hours after the end of GW5, with some big fixtures lined up.

GW5 was the first game week of the season that took place in midweek, with Arsenal beating Aston Villa 2-1 to remain top of the Premier League and maintain their 100% winning record. Erling Haaland scored his seventh, eighth and ninth of the season as Manchester City beat Nottingham Forest 6-0, and Liverpool scored a 98th-minute winner to beat Newcastle 2-1 and register back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Chelsea lost again as they were beaten 2-1 by Southampton, whilst Manchester United made it three consecutive wins and Spurs were held to a 1-1 draw elsewhere. GW6 is tipped to be a thrilling week, with Everton and Liverpool going head to head whilst Arsenal hosts Man United.

So, what's the best team to pick for FPL GW6? Here's Mirror Football's best FPL side for the sixth game week of the 2022/23 FPL season.

Mirror's best FPL Gameweek 6 team

GW3 starting XI (3-5-2): Sa; Cucurella, Canceclo, Trippier; Foden, Harrison, Gross, Diaz, De Bruyne; Isak, Kane.

Mirror's best FPL Gameweek 6 squad (Fantasy Premier League)

Goalkeeper: Jose Sa (5.0m) - Despite Wolves' poor start to the season, they have remained defensively solid, with Sa playing a big part in that. The Portuguese goalkeeper has kept two clean sheets, has an 80% save percentage and averaged 3.2 saves per 90 going into their clash with Southampton.

Defender: Marc Cucurella (£5.1m) - Chelsea may have conceded eight in their last four, but they face one of the lowest scoring teams in the league as they host West Ham in GW6. Chelsea have kept three clean sheets in their last three home games versus the Hammers, whilst Cucurella has registered two assists in the opening five GWs.

Defender: Joao Cancelo (£7.1m) - Cancelo grabbed a goal and a clean sheet in GW5 as he recorded his second double-digit haul of the season, and with a struggling Aston Villa Man City's next opponent, the defender could score big again. With City's constant threat of rotation, Cancelo's ability to play both sides of defence makes him more likely to remain in the starting XI.

Defender: Kieran Trippier (£5.1m) - Not only are Newcastle a defensively solid side this season, but Trippier's attacking input makes him desired in FPL. On all corners, deadly from free-kicks and averaging almost nine crosses per 90, we see the defender as a must for GW6.

Midfielder: Phil Foden (£8.0m) - Two of three City players in our GW6 team, Foden should be a starter in GW6 after being taken off before the hour mark in GW5. Usually deployed on the left, Villa have been suspect down that side of the pitch so far this season, so we expect Foden to be heavily involved on Saturday.

Midfielder: Jack Harrison (£6.1m) - Harrison has gone under the radar in FPL this season, with the winger selected by less than 5% of managers, despite having a goal and three assists to his name. With Brentford up next, Harrison could prove a great differential.

Midfielder: Pascal Gross (£5.9m) - Gross has been the surprise of the season so far, registering three goals and an assist in the first five GWs. Up against a poor Leicester City side next, the German could return once again - at just £5.9m, he's a bargain.

Midfielder: Luis Diaz (£8.1m) - Liverpool have looked to be getting back to their best in recent weeks, and Diaz could continue his fine form in the Merseyside derby in GW6. With three goals to his name already, the Colombian could add to his tally against Everton.

Midfielder: Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m) - After dropping to the bench against Nottingham Forest in GW5, De Bruyne is set to start against Aston Villa in GW6. The Man City midfielder has four assists against Villa in his last four appearances against them.

Forward: Alexander Isak (£7.0m) - Isak was impressive for Newcastle on his Premier League debut against Liverpool and with the Magpies at home to Palace, we tip the striker to score again. Due to the striker being recently added into the game, his ownership is just over 1%, making him a major differential.

Forward: Harry Kane (11.4m) - With six goals in his last five games against Fulham and four to his name already this season, Kane could potentially have a field day against the Cottagers in GW6. Out of all the forwards in FPL, only Erling Haaland has tallied more points so far this season, and due to rotation risk, we've opted for Kane over the Norwegian.
