The illustrious history of French fragrance house Diptyque dates back to 1961, although you’ll be forgiven for thinking it is much older.
The trio behind its founding, Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Montadre-Gautrot and Yves Coueslant, are artists who opened a studio at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain (now its flagship) in the 5th arrondissement of Paris that became something of a cabinet of curiosities, filled with knick-knacks with fantastical stories that would go on to inspire their fragrance collections.
