Last minute air fryer deals on Amazon Prime Day 2024: Best offers on Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot and more

The UK is in the grip of an air-frying craze.

Air fryers have gone from relative obscurity to becoming one of the biggest kitchen appliance purchases in the UK in just a few short years.

More than a third of households now own one of these compact gadgets, loved for their energy efficiency and ability to cook tasty meals with just a fraction of oil.

It’s a bandwagon well worth jumping on. Air fryers are an invaluable cooking tool, whether you live in a large or small household. They take a snip of the time to cook ingredients and can serve as a secondary oven when you need to prepare a feast. Think a Sunday roast with all the trimmings, on the table in half the time.

Major electrical brands have launched versions of these machines, and when competition is fierce, it’s bargain-hungry shoppers that have the most to win. Come sale season, and the deals get even tastier.

Amazon is one of the best places to pick up an air fryer, and when the retailer holds a sale - often with free delivery - the discounts are too good to pass up.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon famously holds its members-only Prime Day sale in high summer every year, but last year saw two mini sales on either side. March saw a Spring Sale, while in October, shoppers were treated to Big Deal Days, neither of which required a Prime membership.

All events saw prices drop across the board, on everything from vacuums and TVs to kitchen essentials like air fryers.

When is Amazon Prime Big Deal Days 2024?

The retail giant’s autumn sale will be held on October 8 and 9.

How to take part in Amazon Prime Big Deal Days

Amazon’s sale event is reserved for Prime membership holders only.

Prime membership costs £8.99 a month, or you can opt to settle your bill every year for £95, which works out a bit cheaper. Amazon Student membership fees come in at £4.49 per month or £47.49 per year.

For that, you’ll not only get free delivery on thousands of products, but will hold the key to Amazon’s huge range of benefits services and entertainment. Think Amazon Music, Prime Video, Deliveroo discounts, Amazon Grocery, picture storage, gaming, reading and more.

Baulking at the cost? Do a free trial first to see if it’s a good fit - you’ll get 30 days to decide. Fair warning; once tried it can be hard to go back.

What kind of deals were there last year?

Aside from Amazon’s own tech - think Kindles, Echoes and Fires - air fryers were one of the biggest and best deals to be found on the site. There are also competitive deals on multicookers, in which air frying is one of many cooking functions. You can expect RRPs rolling back on everything from Ninja devices to Tefal and Philips.

Ninja Combi 12-In-1 Multi-Cooker, Oven & Air Fryer

Taking individual kitchen appliances and parcelling them up into countertop-friendly dimensions measuring 33 x 39 x 38cm, Ninja's Combi gadget really does do it all.

A dozen functions are packed into this thing, all navigated on the boxy control panel on the front: Combi Meals, Combi Crisp, Combi Bake, Rice/Pasta, Sear/Sauté, Steam, Slow Cook, Prove, Bake, Reheat, Air Fry & Grill, meaning it is so much more than simply a microwave.

Helpfully, the design features a viewing hatch on the front (and features a front door opening, ideal if you're living with low-set kitchen cupboards), so you can see if food is done ahead of the timer pinging or if your ingredients could do with a quick stir. You'll get a trio of accessories with it too: a baking tray, combi pan and crisper plate. Ninja has even bunged in a recipe guide, ready to flick through for inspiration.

Philips AirFryer XXL

The name gives it away. This is not a small air fryer, but it isn’t actually as large as some of the others on the market. However, with its hefty price tag, we were disappointed to find that it didn’t come with more instructions on how to set it up.

The model has five digital pre-sets for cooking foods such as fish and meat, so there’s no faff in knowing how long or what temperatures they should be cooked at. One of its standout features is its slide out drawer, which unlike the other clunky drawers feels sturdy and secure when you’re rotating chips or meat. Plus, we were amazed at the speed of the cooking – with very little oil, it took just 20 minutes for meat and 15 minutes for chips.

We weren’t as amazed at the washing up afterwards though – we love that it helps to reduce the fat content of your food, but it leaves a black tar-like residue, which we found pretty hard to scrub from the three parts of the machine.

Tower Vortx 2000W 5-in-1 11L Digital Air Fryer Oven

The first stand-out feature on this air fryer model is one of its attachments – a rotisserie fork, meaning you can cook a whole chicken at a more efficient speed and quality than in an oven.

As you’d probably already guessed this air fryer is pretty big and comes with three shelves to cook food in. Almost as big as a mini oven, its perfect for bigger kitchens, but you may struggle to find the room in a smaller homes. The three shelves means you can cook your entire dinner at once: we popped in both vegetables and chicken, which all came out beautifully tender and crispy on the outside.

The five digital pre-sets were helpful too (especially for those navigating air fryer cooking times for the first time), while the trays all pull out and are dishwasher proof.

Breville Halo 5.5L Digital Air Fryer

Relatively quiet and medium-sized, Breville’s air fryer has five pre-sets – so if you’re feeling lazy or you’re a beginner in the frying game, it controls the times and temperatures all at a touch of a button.

Like most of the models it has a pull-out draw with a basket, which can be divided if you’re cooking two different things. Barely any oil is needed to make chips, while cauliflower and falafel came out crispy and well cooked.

We weren’t too keen on its rigid square design, but it fitted well on our kitchen worktop and came apart easily to clean in the dishwasher.

This small and tidy two-litre air fryer is perfect for small homes and student halls with dimensions measuring a compact 25.6D x 21.1W x 26.7Hcm. Not only does it cook faster with less oil but it's quiet about it too making far less noise at just 48dB when it's on (around the same as a quiet library).

Operation-wise it couldn't be simpler to use with a control panel and screen set at the top and just one dishwasher-safe compartment to clean.
