A DAY full of colour and fun, students at St Joseph's Primary School Kilaben Bay held a colour and slime run yesterday to raise funds for their school.
Students were dressed in white at the starting line before jumping, running and dancing their way through an obstacle course that included a slime pit. They were plastered with food-coloured cornstarch powder by their peers and teachers.
On the day there was a petting zoo, a disco, face painting and fake tattoos for the children.
The P&F association made a barbecue lunch for the hungry runners before they were sprayed with water by a Fire and Rescue NSW crew.
St Joseph's Kilaben Bay principal Nikki Norley said the day was a chance to connect and build on the school community with parents and the parish.
The parishioners of the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese sponsored Deacon Naveen Susainathan - who raised $1000 - to be slimed by the students.
"It was so much fun and the kids said it was the best day ever," Ms Norley said.
"When kids feel connected their wellbeing thrives, and the funding was just a bonus."
