Best CFB matchups to watch during Georgia’s bye week

While the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs are on their bye week ahead of their huge Sept. 28 game at the Alabama Crimson Tide. Georgia fans will be looking for good college football games to watch.

Have no fear: there are still some marquee matchups in Week 4 that could be important to Georgia, either including important transfers from Georgia or important games with SEC rivals that could impact Georgia’s standing in the SEC.

Syracuse vs. Stanford

Head coach Fran Brown, formerly the defensive backs coach of Georgia, has done well for himself so far at Syracuse. The Orange are off to a 2-0 start after an awesome victory over No. 23 Georgia Tech. They’ll be playing the Stanford Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. ET, and if the Syracuse start 3-0, it’ll be a great look on Brown.

Georgia Tech vs. No. 19 Louisville

Speaking of Georgia Tech, they are no longer ranked after a tough ACC loss to Syracuse. They won 59-3 against an FCS school, but they get an even tougher matchup vs. the No. 19 Louisville Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. ET. For those UGA fans who enjoy cheering against rivals, this is the matchup for you.

No. 24 Illinois vs. No. 22 Nebraska

One of the most hype matchups of the week includes a former Georgia commit. That’s right: Dylan Raiola, who flipped from Georgia to Nebaska, has led the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a surprising 3-0 start and their first time in the AP ranks in nine years. He’ll be facing his first true test against a Fighting Illini team that is also on one of their best stretches in a long time.

No. 6 Tennessee vs. No. 15 Oklahoma

This game is the most anticipated game of the weekend, so much so that ESPN’s “College GameDay” is heading to Norman to cover the matchup. Tennessee has been on an amazing stretch, going undefeated and looking absolutely dominant with an average margin of victory of 59.3 points.

Oklahoma is looking more mortal, barely escaping against Houston in Week 2, but they have yet to lose to Tennessee in the 21st century. If Tennessee wins they could potentially climb above UGA in the AP Polls and the US LBM Polls.
