It's officially the time of year for snuggling on the couch with a film you've seen six times and a hot chocolate that has a splash of something strong in.

The French Black Raspberry liqueur may be paired more often with pineapple juice and vodka or a splash of champagne, but it makes a really delicious hot chocolate with a twist. This is probably my number one go-to for a hot chocolate but I've always been a massive fan of the raspberry liqueur, it's fruity without being overpowering. You can buy yourself a bottle of Chambord from £5.99 at a number of retailers including Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury's.
Mozart is a chocolate liqueur that's often served over ice, but with six different flavours it can spice up any hot chocolate (or coffee) with something sweet. With Strawberry, White Chocolate, Cream, Dark, Pumpkin Spice and Coffee there are plenty of options to choose from and something for everyone's tastes.
There isn't a strong alcohol flavour with them, just a creaminess that reminds me of Baileys. The White Chocolate, Pumpkin Spice and Strawberry go amazingly with a white hot chocolate - with Pumpkin Spice being similar to the viral 'Cinderella Latte' at Starbucks.
The Cream (which is a milk chocolate type), Dark and Coffee are great for a rich milk or dark hot chocolate. You can buy yourself a bottle of Mozart from £6 at a number of retailers including Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, The W hisky Exchange and Master of Malt.
Vecchia Romagna is a premium brandy made from the Trebbiano grape which is the base grape for almost all of the world's best Cognacs. Brandy is synonymous with this time of year, the early nights, sparkling lights and tendency to treat yourself a little more has shoppers reaching for something special this Christmas.
While brandy is often enjoyed straight or over ice, it can add a sophisticated touch when added into a hot drink like a classic Café Royale or hot chocolate. With flavours of vanilla, caramel and clove it's a festive option. You can buy yourself a bottle of Vecchia Romagna from £23.99 at Masters of Malt.
Kraken Rum is a black spiced rum that has gained quite a strong fan base and for good reason. Not only does it come in a stunning bottle that makes for easy pouring but the rum has a flavour that's perfect for this time of year.
With cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg making up the main flavour, and an aroma of caramel, toffee and spice it's perfect for adding an extra oomph for hot chocolates and coffees this time of year. You can buy yourself a bottle of Kraken from £20 at a number of retailers including Tesco, Morrisons and a slick limited edition bottle over on Amazon.
If you're not a fan of creamy drinks you don't have to miss out on something hot and boozy this time of year, a twist on mulled wine that's increasing in popularity is hot apertivos. Select Apertivo has a ruby red colour and festive notes of cinnamon, orange, cloves and nutmeg. Paired with apple juice, oranges, a splash of white wine and a cinnamon stick this unusual cocktail is a great twist to stay warm this holiday season. You can buy yourself a bottle of Select from £17 over on Amazon.
Please remember to drink responsibly.
