It’s time for Pro Football Focus to put their pencils down on the Carolina Panthers’ 2022 campaign.
So, for the last time this season, let’s look at the best and worst grades for the team in their Week 18 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Best of the offense
1. RB Chuba Hubbard: 84.4
2. RT Taylor Moton: 73.7
3. RG Cade Mays: 69.8
3. WR Laviska Shenault Jr.: 69.8
5. LT Ikem Ekwonu: 65.3
Hubbard led the team with 69 rushing yards on 21 carries.
Mays, who came in at right guard for an injured Austin Corbett, allowed one pressure in 11 opportunities.
Worst of the offense
17. RG Austin Corbett: 47.8
18. TE Tommy Tremble: 47.0
18. TE Ian Thomas: 47.0
20. LG Michael Jordan: 35.7
21. QB Sam Darnold: 34.9
Darnold finished with career-lows in completions (five), passing yards (43) and passer rating (2.8).
Although Jordan scored the only touchdown of the game for Carolina, his 25.6 pass-blocking grade drags him down towards the bottom. He allowed four pressures on 20 opportunities.
Best of the defense
1. DT Marquan McCall: 88.9
2. CB CJ Henderson: 81.4
3. DT Derrick Brown: 81.1
4. LB Frankie Luvu: 80.8
5. S Jeremy Chinn: 78.8
Henderson had himself a nice bounce-back game following the Week 17 disaster in Tampa Bay. He relinquished three catches for 30 yards on seven targets and forced a fumble.
Brown and Luvu, often favorites of this segment, finished up strong. They combined for six stops.
Worst of the defense
14. CB Josh Norman: 51.5
15. DE Henry Anderson: 49.7
16. DE Yetur Gross-Matos: 49.1
17. DT Phil Hoskins: 46.2
18. DE Marquis Haynes Sr.: 38.4
Norman had a rough go out of the gate, allowing a 25-yard touchdown to Saints wideout Chris Olave on the first possession of the game. Overall, he was charged with four receptions and 54 yards on five targets.
