Perhaps because one must nurture their photosynthesising friends, houseplants are commonly indicative of a caring, contemplative owner. According to Horticulture Magazine, 43 per cent of people with houseplants said looking after them improved their wellbeing, and as many as 37 per cent of purchasers think that the container is just as important as the type of plant.
