Besiktas forced to release club statement over Dele Alli

Besiktas have dismissed a rumour circulating online that they are being forced to play Everton loanee Dele Alli after he returned from a thigh injury.

Alli is on loan for the season in Turkey and has so far made five appearances for Besiktas, scoring one goal in the process. The Turkish club have an option to buy the England international at the end of the season.

After moving to Everton in January from Tottenham, Alli's time at Goodison Park didn't work out and Frank Lampard decided to offload the midfielder to the Turkish league.

It is rare to see a club come and address a rumour, but Besiktas felt the need to squash the one regarding Alli with a statement on the official website : "The news published in some media outlets today with the headlines “Dele Alli has a guarantee to play in his contract” and “Dele Alli promised to play!” are false.

"All of the news reports stating that our footballer was promised to play by our coach Valerien Ismaël during the transfer process, that he has a clause in his contract to play in the first XI in any situation other than injury and that he plays in the matches for this reason contain false and untrue information. We kindly ask our supporters not to rely on such news aimed at devaluing our footballer."
