Besiktas confirm Dele Alli transfer decision as Sean Dyche handed new Everton conundrum

Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi has revealed Dele Alli won’t be returning to the club this summer after he failed to meet expectations.

Dele has a year remaining on his Everton contract, having signed a two-and-a-half-year deal when leaving Tottenham Hotspur in January 2022. However, he was unable to make an impact at Goodison Park and was loaned out to Besiktas last summer.

But the England international only made 15 appearances, scoring three goals, after joining the Turkish giants last August and was criticised by the club’s head coach, Senol Gunes, on more than one occasion.

And now, in an interview with BeIN Sports, Besiktas chief Cebi hasadmitted his club will not be pursuing another move for the 27-year-old.

He said: “Our contract with Dele Alli is over. He was a player we were very excited about when he came. He won’t come back. We didn’t get what we expected from him. I hope he recovers as a human.”

Speaking back in April, Everton boss Sean Dyche claimed Dele wanted to revive his fading fortunes as he was forced to return to the Goodison Park early after picking up a hip flexor injury in Turkey.

Dyche said: “Some of the stuff that’s been said and reported . . . he’s 27 and like other players knows certain things and what they should or shouldn’t be doing.

“Forget about Everton for a minute, as a manager you can’t control everything they do in their lives.

“You can only guide people with what you think is good for them and eventually they have choices. We recommend they make good choices.”
