Besiktas have described their concern over Dele Alli’s form as the ex-Tottenham star looks to get back to his best.
A loan stint in Turkey has not gone to plan for the 26-year-old midfielder, who has scored twice in eight games but is yet to complete a full 90 minutes in the Super Lig.
Labouring in eighth place in the league, Besiktas get back to competitive action next week and manager Senol Gunes has admitted Dele has so far fallen “below expectations”.
The player was a substitute in a 5-3 win over Giresunspor on Thursday, in which fellow former Premier League players Cenk Tosun, Gedson Fernandes and Georges Kevin N’Koundou grabbed the goals.
Besiktas sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci has also voiced his fears over Everton loanee Dele.
“No one can answer whether Dele Alli can do it right now,” he is quoted by Sun Sport as telling TRT Spor.
“He is working very hard. He is a player who reached 100 million euros three years ago. He had a fall. Dele Alli is working intensively. We had intense talks with him before we signed him.
“Senol is famous for returning many players whose careers have been on the decline. We hope that he will be better in the second half of the season.”
