Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has spoken about why Tottenham star Son Heung-min went "crazy" at him during a north London derby back in 2019.
Leno and tough-tackling midfielder Granit Xhaka were reviewing some of their best moments in an Arsenal shirt and the German goalkeeper picked out a sublime save to deny Spurs forward Son during a 2-2 draw, back in September 2019. Speaking about the save on Arsenal’s official website, he said: "I have to say, I played with Son at Leverkusen.
"I know what he’s doing. As a goalkeeper, sometimes, you’ve to read the situation.

"I read the situation and then, fingertip save." Xhaka then weighed in on the situation, claiming that he would be frustrated if Leno denied him like that.
The 29-year-old said: "If I was the player [Son], I’d be going crazy, man. Leno then replied: "He [Son] went crazy. He said after to me: 'Come on, stop doing that!'"
The German international enjoyed three seasons as the Gunners' first-choice keeper, establishing himself as one of the Premier League's most consistent shot-stoppers. However, his distribution left a lot to be desired, something that Mikel Arteta's play style requires.
Therefore, the Spaniard opted to bring Aaron Ramsdale to the club last summer, with the Englishman displacing Leno in the starting XI after a 5-0 loss to Manchester City back in August. Ramsdale has since enjoyed an extremely impressive run, registering 12 clean sheets in just 24 league outings before suffering a hip injury before last week's clash against Aston Villa.
Still, Leno was able to perform well in the 23-year-old's absence as the north Londoners secured a vital 1-0 win over Steven Gerrard's men. With the addition of American keeper Matt Turner in the summer, it seems as though Leno's time in north London is coming to an end.
