Bernardo Silva gives verdict on Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City title chances

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has explained why he is still wary of Liverpool’s threat in the Premier League title race.

The Reds are currently in sixth place in the league table and are 15 points adrift of leaders Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp ’s side are also five points adrift of the Champions League places, with Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place having played a game more.

Liverpool are 10 points behind Man City who are second in the table, as they prepare to face Leicester City on Friday night in their final match of 2022. The Reds are currently on a three-game winning streak in the Premier League, and have improved their position in the table after an inconsistent start to the campaign.

Silva has been giving his thoughts on the title race, and believes that Liverpool are still a contender. The Man City star has explained why the Reds will believe that they could catch themselves or leaders Arsenal in the second half of the season.

“Some teams are already quite far behind Arsenal,” Silva told Sky Sports. “I don’t know exactly how many points Liverpool are behind but I think it’s around 15 points.

“So that gap is not easy to recover, but it’s possible. Then United is closer, Tottenham is closer, Chelsea is far, far away so it’s not going to be easy for them, as well.

“But it’s the Premier League, so in two or three games if Arsenal start dropping points then we are right there with them. And Liverpool is right there as well because they are not far away from us.

“We haven’t got to the half of the Premier League [season], so everything can still happen. Knowing that the teams who are 15 or more points behind is quite a big gap, so it’s not easy for them.”
