Bernardo Silva fires Premier League title warning as Arsenal suffer Man City defeat

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has fired a warning to Arsenal as the two sides continue their battle for the Premier League title this season. The Gunners suffered a 4-1 defeat against City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night and now sit just two points clear at the top of the table.

Arsenal have not won in their last four fixtures as the reigning champions have now taken control of the title race. Pep Guardiola's side have two games in hand on the north London outfit and could move four points clear of Mikel Arteta's side if they win both fixtures.

William Saliba was absent once again as the Gunners suffered defeat in Manchester with the Frenchman continuing to recover from a back injury. Granit Xhaka returned to the matchday squad after missing the 3-3 draw against Southampton last weekend, but he was unable to help Arsenal rediscover their winning form.

Silva has now vowed that City will not relinquish control of the Premier League title race after dealing a blow to their rivals on Wednesday as they look to win a historic treble this season. Following the 4-1 win over Arsenal, Silva discussed the title race and if Guardiola has banned talk of the treble in the City dressing room.

The Portuguese playmaker told The Daily Mail: "He [Guardiola] hasn't banned anything. We're big men and we talk about whatever we want.

"We're not going to be complacent about the title. We're going to take this job very seriously and try to win every game, now focused on Fulham away, which is a tough game.

"These players know that the best way to achieve good things is to think just about the next one. If we don't beat Fulham we put ourselves in a difficult position to win the Premier League.

"I remember in my second season we were 10 points behind Liverpool as well and we beat them to win the title. We've always had these moments of unbeaten runs, of 15 or 20 games, and it came at an important part of the season happily."

Arsenal have just five games left to play this season as they continue to chase down a first title since 2004. City are in pole position to win their fifth title in six years after the Gunners have stumbled in recent weeks and allowed the reigning champions back into contention.
