Bernard Brogan makes pitch to Galway ace Shane Walsh to join local club and promises to bring legend out of retirement

Bernard Brogan has made a last gasp pitch to coax Shane Walsh to his club St Oliver Plunkett in a social media pitch.

Brogan has promised that he would line out for one more year if it meant Walsh signed on the dotted line for the North Dublin club.

Walsh shocked the GAA world when he announced his attentions to transfer to Kilmacud Crokes with the star forward living and studying in the capital.

And the Dublin legend took to Twitter with an attractive offer to play for St Oliver Plunkett and said that he will even stick around for one more year if that was the case.

Brogan stepped away from intercounty duty after Dublin won the five-in-a-row back in 2019 but still lines out for his club.

And as part of his sales pitch, Brogan said he would get his older brother Alan out of retirement as well as club legend Gareth Smith.

Posting on Twitter, he said: We’d love to have you @shane147walsh down in @plunketts_ie , just throwing us into the hat Myself and @nestysmith13 will play one more year if you join! @alanbrogan13 said he would dust down boots also."

But Alan said there is no room in the full forward line for Walsh with the two Brogans reserving top billing.

He joked: "You would have to play in the half forward line though as no slots left in ff line!!!"

Walsh scored nine points in last month's All-Ireland final as Galway narrowly lost to Kerry and could link up to Paul Mannion at Kilmacud Crokes if his transfer goes through.
