Bergen Logistics launches £4.6m North East base creating 60 jobs

Around 60 jobs are set to be created following the launch of a new logistics brand in the North East.

Elanders is expanding its Bergen Logistics brand in the UK with a 48,000sqft facility in North Tyneside, specialising in fashion and lifestyle fulfilment. The expansion is led by the Elanders UK team and will see Bergen Logistics move into a £4.6m industrial unit on the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate, aided by property owners UK Land Estates.

The Bergen Logistics brand will expand its presence across the UK, EU and USA, providing fulfilment services to the fashion and lifestyle sectors, to include clothing, footwear, handbags, accessories and cosmetics, home goods, medical devices and supplements. The new facility will also be based very close to the Elanders UK headquarters in North Tyneside.

Elanders group is a global partner for integrated supply chain solutions with over 90 operations across four continents, providing solutions for complex supply chains. It also provides services such as print and packaging resources. The Bergen Logistics expansion in the UK is set to create up to 60 jobs and Kevin Rogers, managing director for Elanders in the UK, said it will complement the Elanders offering in North Tyneside, which has a combined headcount of around 200 staff.

Mr Rogers said: “We are very excited to work with our colleagues at Bergen Logistics to expand our fashion and lifestyle business in the UK. North Tyneside has been a fantastic location for us for more than 20 years and this is a great place to serve our Bergen Logistics customers. It is also home to a highly skilled and dedicated workforce, one of the key reasons Elanders continues to invest in the region. By continuing to invest in the region we are in the wonderful position of being able to offer high quality, sustainable jobs while, at the same time, future-proofing our legacy. It is an exciting time to be part of Elanders UK and the arrival of Bergen Logistics is further evidence of our wider ambitions.

“We worked successfully with legal firm Savage Silk, in particular, Paul Earnshaw and Chris Morgan, to secure the lease agreement with fantastic support from UK Land Estates and its legal representatives.
