Bentancur starts with midfielder dropped - Tottenham lineups Antonio Conte should pick vs Wolves

Tottenham will be intent on putting their Southampton nightmare behind them when they return to Premier League action on Sunday against Wolves.

Looking on course for an important win courtesy of Son Heung-min's 70th-minute strike, the visitors scored twice late on to take all three points back to the south coast.

Although Wolves themselves were on the losing side in midweek following a slender 1-0 loss vs Arsenal, Bruno Lage's men have been in good form in recent weeks to put themselves in with a shout of a European place.

Winning 1-0 at Molineux back in August when Nuno Espirito Santo was Spurs boss, it once again promises to be a close encounter between the two teams.

So how exactly could Spurs line up against Wolves?

We asked our Tottenham correspondents Alasdair Gold, Rob Guest and Emma de Duve to pick the team that they reckon Conte could select to take on the West Midlands club.

Conte stuck with the same starting XI after the FA Cup win against Brighton but those players struggled for much of the match against Southampton.

The Italian needs to make changes for another tough test in the shape of Wolves and at least one of his new signings is likely to come into the team.

Rodrigo Bentancur was a rare bright spot in Wednesday's defeat after a similarly positive cameo at the weekend. This could well be the chance to hand him his first start.

To bring in Dejan Kulusevski would mean dropping one of Son Heung-min or Lucas Moura. The former scored and Conte has said he will start and the latter had a hand in both Spurs goals.

Elsewhere, Conte will be without the injured Eric Dier, Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga.

He could be tempted to rotate at least one of his wing-backs, with Matt Doherty no doubt hoping to start after an ineffective display from Emerson Royal.

Gold's team: Lloris; Sanchez, Romero, Davies; Doherty, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Reguilon; Lucas, Kane, Son.

Antonio Conte needs to make changes to his Tottenham team after Wednesday evening's defeat against Southampton.

The Spurs boss made it clear he wasn't happy about his team's passing in the 3-2 defeat and a change in midfield could very well happen.

Although Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was the player who made way on the hour mark for Rodrigo Bentancur, the fact the Dane is one of Conte's generals could see him start alongside the January signing.

Eric Dier's absence through a thigh injury means it will be the same back three from midweek unless Conte springs a surprise and brings in Joe Rodon.

However, there could be a change at right wing-back with Matt Doherty coming in due to Emerson Royal's struggles last time out.

Lucas Moura has done enough to keep his place in the team as Dejan Kulusevski and Steven Bergwijn remain on the bench.

Guest's team: Lloris; Sanchez, Romero, Davies; Doherty, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Reguilon; Lucas, Kane, Son.

A big game for Conte after the disappointing performance against Southampton on Wednesday and it is a good opportunity to get three points before the trio of away fixtures to come.

With injuries still making some players unavailable, the Spurs boss will have to use those he can to give Tottenham the best chance at getting a much needed three points.

The back line is likely to remain the same with the absence of Dier but there could be a couple of changes further up the field as Bentancur has shown promising signs in minutes he has got on the pitch so far.

Royal didn't have his greatest game against the Saints and Conte may decide to give Doherty a chance to prove himself on the right hand side.

Moura was another who, although contributed in the build-up to two of the goals mid-week, he also lost the ball a number of times and he may decide to let Bergwijn get a chance to make an impact from the start of the game

de Duve's team: Lloris; Sanchez, Romero, Davies; Doherty, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Reguilon; Bergwijn, Kane, Son.
