Bengaluru: West division traffic policefix 500 potholes in 6 months

BENGALURU: With many craters in the city still unattended, west division traffic police have been on a pothole-filling spree with at least six of them repaired on Thursday alone.

Deputy commissioner of police, traffic (west), Kuldeep Kumar Jain said: “We have filled at least 500 potholes in the past six months on the main roads of Peenya, Yeshwantpur and Outer Ring Road between Goraguntepalya and Mysuru Road junction in Nayandanahalli.”

On Thursday, traffic police filled potholes in and around Mutyalanagar railway overbridge in Jalahalli to ensure smooth movement of vehicles on the narrow flyover. Stating that the potholes had disrupted traffic on the overbridge, a Jalahalli traffic police station officer said they decided to address the issue.

“Ensuring smooth flow of traffic is our primary task. Many main roads in our jurisdiction have potholes, which severely affect traffic movement. Taking the help of residents and others, who contributed cement and other material, we have been filling these potholes,” Jain said.

Netizens praised traffic police, while several tweets from the public demanded that potholes in their areas too be fixed by traffic cops given BBMP’s apahty. It may be recalled that BBMP is facing a June 6 deadline set by the high court to make Bengaluru pothole-free.
