Bengaluru Real Estate Executive C.J. Roy Found Dead Amid Income Tax Searches

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Akshay Hakay said Roy was initially rushed to a nearby private hospital before being shifted to Narayana Hospital in HSR Layout, where he was declared “brought dead” by doctors. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. Police are investigating whether the shooting was self-inflicted.

At the time of the incident, the Income Tax Department was conducting searches at multiple locations connected to the Confident Group. The company has previously faced similar scrutiny and has been involved in ongoing tax disputes, including cases pending before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal and the Karnataka High Court.

The Confident Group, headquartered in Bengaluru, operates across southern India, including Kerala, and is known for several high-profile residential and commercial projects.

Roy, originally from Kochi, Kerala, was also involved in the Malayalam film industry. He produced films including the 2012 Mohanlal-starrer Casanova and the group has served as the title sponsor for multiple seasons of the Malayalam reality television show Bigg Boss Malayalam, hosted by Mohanlal.

Authorities continue to investigate the case to determine the circumstances of Roy’s death.
