Bengaluru: Priest, 35, gets one-year rigorous imprisonment for flashing minor girl

BENGALURU: A fast-track court on Saturday held a 35-year-old priest guilty of sexually harassing a minor girl and sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment. He was also fined Rs 10,000.

Sudheendra Lingadheeranahalli, a resident of Lingadheeranahalli in Talaghattapura, was arrested on October 6, 2017 for flashing a minor at a house in Nagarbhavi. He was among a bunch of priests performing post-death rituals at the house.

“In between the rituals, Sudheendra went to the first floor of the house to rest. There, some kids were playing. Sudheendra spotted the minor girl and flashed her. The girl screamed and her mother came running. The girl explained what had happened and the mother immediately contacted the police control room. A Hoysala vehicle arrived, detained Sudheendra and took him to Chandra Layout police station. Based on the mother’s complaint, he was arrested under the Pocso Act and sent to judicial custody,” a source said.
