BENGALURU: Anekal police station in Bengaluru Rural district witnessed high drama on Wednesday night when a man walked in with a bloodstained knife in hand, saying ‘Hendra kondbutte sami’ (I killed my wife saar) and burst into tears.
Soon, the staff alerted their seniors who rushed to the station, detained the mason and took a detailed statement from him.
M Mallesh, who was in tears while walking into the station, showed no emotion when he explained how he killed his wife, M Saraswati, 35, a homemaker.
Saraswati, mother of two boys, was found dead in the hall of their house on Thimmarayaswamy Temple Road in Anekal. Their sons were playing in the neighbourhood when Mallesh allegedly slit Saraswati’s throat after a heated argument.
Probe revealed Mallesh suspected Saraswati of infidelity. “He was an alcoholic. He also believed someone wanted to kill him over personal rivalry and a month ago, posted the same on his Facebook page. A cousin of Mallesh, who is a busin essman and lives nearby, often visited Mallesh and counselled him.
The cousin had also brought Mallesh to the police station for his foniasophobia,” cops said, adding: “As days went on, Mallesh started suspecting Saraswati of having an affair with his cousin. The issue sparked a fight between them on Wednesday and ended in the murder. ”
