BENGALURU: The complainant’s efforts to register a police complaint should be discernible from the narration in any private complaint lodged in court, and documentary evidence should be submitted in support of the same, failing which it would not be in compliance with section 154(1) and (3) of the CrPC, the high court observed recently.
“A mere statement without any documents appended to demonstrate the efforts made by the complainant for registration of crime would not suffice for a private complaint to be registered before the magistrate,” justice M Nagaprasanna observed in his order, while quashing proceedings before the 45th additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Bengaluru, against eight petitioners.
