BENGALURU: A cab driver, a scrap merchant who doubled up as a painter, and a two-wheeler mechanic thought their dreams of becoming rich overnight were coming true when they were taken on board a cryptocurrency firm as directors and Rs 3 crore was deposited in their bank accounts, all within three months.
But their hopes were shattered in no time as their firm, ShareHash, was found to be involved in a huge financial fraud, running up to a minimum of Rs 40 crore, and they were arrested last week. Besides cabbie Imran Riyaz from Gurappana Palya, scrap merchant-cum-painter Zabiulla Khan and mechanic Rehamatulla Khan, both from BTM Layout, company secretary Sheetal Bastawad, who is from Belagavi, too was arrested. All are in their late 20s.
