BENGALURU: Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has revised the tender schedule for construction of the 74km Peripheral Ring Road (PRR).
BDA had floated tender bids for the construction of PRR, connecting Tumakuru Road with Hosur Road after cutting through Ballari Road and Old Madras Road, under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The pre-bidding meeting was scheduled for April 28, and the last date for the submission for bids was May 18. However, BDA failed to upload the documents required for the tender process, necessitating revision of the schedule.
“The high committee headed by the chief secretary hasn’t approved the tender documents. After a discussion with the chief secretary, we took a formal approval. We have now uploaded all the necessary documents on our website and revised the schedule,” said BDA chairman S R Vishwanath. The dates, however, remain unchanged.
BDA commissioner Rajesh Gowda said: “As per the government’s decision, the project will be based on the design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) model. Acquiring land and fixing its price and revenue-sharing module with the private partner is yet to be decided. At the government level, a decision hasn’t been taken yet. Hence, we could not upload the tender documents on the e-procurement portal before.”
“Farmers have been demanding new land rates. According to the BDA Act, we can pay them compensation according to the existing land value. But they aren’t happy with the rates. We have decided to pay them compensation which will be more than the guidance value and less than what they are claiming. During our next talks, we will finalise this,” Vishwanath said.
Sources in BDA said 2,560 acres have to be acquired for the project.
