BENGALURU: A 74-year-old man was mowed down by a speeding BBMP truck in Bagalur, northeastern part of city, on Thursday afternoon.
The victim is V Ramaiah, resident of Yelahanka. This is the second such accident in last ten days. On March 21, a 14-year-old girl was killed by a BBMP truck in Hebbal.
Police said Ramaiah was riding back home on his gearless scooter when the accident occurred at 2pm. “Ramaiah was riding on the of the road and was wearing helmet. The driver of the truck (KA 41-B-6186) failed to notice Ramaiah’s two-wheeler and rear-ended it. Ramaiah fell to his right and came under the front wheel of the truck. The driver fled. Ramaiah was shifted to Yelahankna government hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” police said.
Ramaiah’s relative Shivakumar said: “Ramaiah had visited a relative’s house to hold marriage talks for a family member. His wife was supposed to ride with him, but she decided to accompany her relative in the latter’s car. .”
