Bengaluru: BBMP has Rs 25 crore in its kitty but no space to build toilets

BENGALURU: BBMP still has Rs 25 crore pending from Shubra Bengaluru grants of 2021-22 but is unable to find appropriate locations to construct/install new toilets.

BBMP has 600-plus pay-and-use toilets and 169 e-toilets. Twenty-five hi-tech toilets are now being built at Rs 19 lakh each, on the lines of the ones at airports and malls with baby care rooms for new mothers. The cost of regular toilets constructed and maintained by BBMP is between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh, and e-toilets are a lot cheaper.
