Despite the Cincinnati Bengals losing star quarterback Joe Burrow for the season due to injury, the NFL has decided it won’t move the team out of “Monday Night Football” in Week 13.
That game against the Jacksonville Jaguars will stay put, with the NFL announcing only two other minor, non-Bengals schedule changes for the Sunday slate that week.
Burrow vs. Trevor Lawrence was a big part of the draw there, but so too is the AFC playoff picture. The Jaguars are currently first in the AFC South but the Houston Texans are surging behind them.
Meanwhile, the Bengals are currently the 11th seed at 5-5, but the final two playoff spots are held by six-win teams, so there’s much to be decided.
If the Bengals keep losing, there’s a chance their kind of primetime game against the Chiefs on New Year’s Eve could move and their two “TBD” games won’t get premium slots.
But with the NFL needing to make these decisions in advance, for now, the Bengals remain on MNF.
