Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt may not be impressed with Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, but Joe Burrow is.
The Cincinnati quarterback is in his fifth NFL season. Like Daniels, Burrow played collegiately at LSU, where both players won the Heisman Trophy. Their paths to LSU and the NFL were similar, too.
Burrow spent three years at Ohio State as a backup before transferring to LSU in 2018. He had a solid first season in Baton Rouge before a record-breaking 2019 season that saw him have arguably the greatest season for a quarterback in college football history. Before his final season at LSU, Burrow wasn’t even considered a potential NFL first-round pick.
Daniels played three seasons at Arizona State, all as the starter, before transferring to LSU ahead of the 2022 season. Like Burrow before him, Daniels had a solid first season for the Tigers before dominating college football in 2023. He, too, shot up draft boards with a record-breaking final collegiate season.
Burrow is now one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, and Daniels is hoping to join him soon. What has Burrow seen from his fellow LSU Heisman-winning quarterback?
“He’s a dynamic player. I really like his throwing motion. Seems like he can spin it and understands his fundamentals,” Burrow said Thursday via the Bengals’ official website. “I think he’s got a bright future. Obviously, he’s really fast and quick and dynamic. But I’m not sure he gets enough credit for the passer that he is.”
Since both played at LSU, do they have a relationship?
“I saw him when I would go back, and I’ve seen him a couple of times since. Whenever we see each other, we have a good talk,” Burrow said of Daniels.
Burrow and the Bengals look to avoid another 0-3 start on Monday and are big favorites over Daniels and the Commanders.
