The Cincinnati Bengals used their final pick in the 2022 NFL draft to continue the defensive theme with Coastal Carolina edge defender Jeffrey Gunter.
Gunter, 6’4″ and 258 pounds, projects as a linebacker or end who can play a role in rushing the passer in certain packages and fronts.
With experience at both defensive end and linebacker, Gunter is another chess piece for the coaches to use all over the place. He had 12 sacks over his junior and senior seasons combined.
This pick was the last overall for the Bengals and the first of the seventh round. Originally, the Bengals had owned a pick much earlier in the final round, but offered it up when the front office traded up to draft Tycen Anderson in the fifth round.
