Bengals seem underrated in updated NFL power rankings

If nothing else, the Cincinnati Bengals remain steady in the power rankings after winning two in a row.

The Bengals look hot after wins over the Saints and Falcons, the latter coming this past Sunday as Joe Burrow threw for nearly 500 yards and the defense slowed an elite rushing attack despite missing key stars.

A hot streak like that, though, hasn’t moved the Bengals in the latest batch of power rankings.

The latest rankings come from Nate Davis of USA Today:

“8. Bengals (8): QB Joe Burrow has blown past 400 passing yards in three of his last five regular-season games at home. But beware, the sacks he endures are also creeping up again, Joey B. going down eight times the past three weeks and a league-most 24 this season.”

It’s an interesting spot to put the Bengals. They’re technically behind the Ravens, a team they lost to by just two points a few weeks back. But those Ravens have struggled mightily over the last two weeks.

Cincinnati also sits behind the New York Giants, a team that is 6-1, but literally all of their games have been one-score affairs, which seems flukey.

Regardless, the Bengals sit in a great spot with two games to go before the bye and a serious chance to hit 6-3 by the break as they play the reeling Browns and Panthers next. Doing so would inevitably mean a higher climb up the rankings.
