Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is one of five finalists for the AP NFL MVP award.
Burrow joins the following names as finalists:
– Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes
– Eagles QB Jalen Hurts
– Vikings WR Justin Jefferson
– Bills QB Josh Allen
– Bengals QB Joe Burrow
While it seems Mahomes is the layup of a pick this year, Burrow certainly belongs in the conversation.
Despite a slow start due to the burst appendix he suffered near the end of training camp, Burrow almost quietly completed 68.3 percent of his passes this year with 4,475 yards and 35 touchdowns against 12 interceptions over 16 games. He added another five touchdowns as a runner.
Along the way, Burrow’s team became the first ever to lose the Super Bowl, start the next season 0-2 and surge to a conference title game anyway. The Bengals’ last loss was on October 31 and they ride a 10-game streak into the AFC title game.
The winner will be announced at NFL Honors on Feb. 9.
