The biggest news around the Cincinnati Bengals as they approach a Week 15 game against the Minnesota Vikings is the surprise injury status of star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Well, it’s that or the team’s long-shot playoff odds given the wild number of scenarios available to the team given the bunched-up AFC playoff standings.
Luckily for Bengals fans, it’s pretty quiet as a result, considering those two items boil down to Chase’s injury not sounding all that serious and the solution to playoff woes simply being keep winning.
Here’s a look at the must-know Bengals news, notes and quotes for December 14.
Ja'Marr Chase update
Chase got upgraded to a limited participant status on the second injury report of the week. It feels like they’re just taking it easy on him out of precaution and sounds like it based on comments from him and coaches, too. From the sounds of it, he aggravated a calf and/or heel when his foot got temporarily stuck in the turf last week against the Colts.
Jersey combo
The Bengals will go with a blackout look against the Vikings. It’s one they rarely use, so it will be pretty interesting to see in action on a cold December day.

Ja'Marr Chase explains difference between Joe Burrow and Jake Browning
Fun comment from Chase on the difference between the quarterbacks: “Jake’s more playful than Burrow. Jake’s going to smile with you. Joe’s just going to walk past and look at you and keep going. He’s just not going to smile all the time. Joe is just more tunnel vision than Jake. If I can describe the difference, Joe comes to work in a suit and a tie. Jake comes to work in a suit with no tie.”
