Bengals have more free agency OL options thanks to Donovan Smith, Kaleb McGary

The Cincinnati Bengals keep seeing new names pop into the potential free-agency pool.

One of those is Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Kaleb McGary, a name the team has elected not to use the franchise tag on this offseason.

Another is Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Donovan Smith, who got released early this week after the Bucs couldn’t find a trade partner to offload him.

McGary, 28, put up an 86.6 PFF grade last year over 1,000-plus snaps. He’s primarily a right tackle, though his actual schematic fit with the Bengals isn’t necessarily great.

Smith, turning 30 in June, saved the rebuilding Bucs $10 million with his release. He’s a solid pass-blocking left tackle, but earned a 58.1 PFF grade last year over 900-plus snaps, allowing six sacks and 12 penalties.

Neither of these players are necessarily amazing options for the Bengals and the market might put them well out of the team’s intended price range.

That disclaimer aside, these two, plus names like Orlando Brown hitting the market, might make it easier for the Bengals to swoop in and grab a guy like Andre Dillard and Jawaan Taylor.
