Bengals get good news on Hendrickson, Higgins and Boyd injuries

Monday, the Cincinnati Bengals took a positive slant to the slew of injuries suffered by key players during Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns.

On the broken wrist suffered by Trey Hendrickson, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said they will take it on a day-to-day basis and wasn’t willing to rule him out for next weekend’s game against Tampa Bay, per the team’s Marisa Contipelli.

That’s the start of a theme on the injury front.

On Tyler Boyd’s dislocated finger, Taylor said they consider him day-to-day. Same story for wideout Tee Higgins, who re-aggravated a nagging hamstring issue in warmups.

Given the extra precaution the Bengals have taken on injuries to key contributors this year, don’t be stunned if all three sit out against an NFC opponent next week when they visit the Buccaneers.

Still, every player missing just one game would be hard to complain about. Wideouts like Trenton Irwin have shown up big when called upon. Hendrickson would be the biggest loss, but depth pieces such as Joseph Ossai are more than capable of filling in on a short-term basis, too.

We’ll monitor this by the day too, but the Bengals getting out of that game with an in-state rival without any long-term injuries to these names is a massive win.
