Bengals get further answers about OL puzzle as preseason continues

Things appear to keep crystalizing for the Cincinnati Bengals along the offensive line.

The latest update comes after the team’s Week 2 preseason encounter with the Atlanta Falcons.

There, Jackson Carman, fresh off getting moved out of the right tackle competition and back to left tackle (where he looked good last postseason), played 60-plus snaps on the left side in Atlanta.

Veteran Max Scharping got the start at center, where he’s been working for most of the summer. That seems to lock him in on the final 53, considering his versatility to let him back up guard spots, too.

Then there is Cody Ford, who again started at left guard. He arrived as a right tackle and will still likely back up that spot too, but his repping at guard nearly guarantees his final roster spot and as a versatile primary backup.

Given this, few questions about the offensive line remain, though it will be interesting to see if the sudden breakout for D’Ante Smith leads to La’el Collins going to injured reserve or pushing someone like Hakeem Adeniji out of the picture.
