Bengals fended off Rams, Broncos and Bucs for Nick Scott

The Cincinnati Bengals had sights on Los Angeles Rams safety Nick Scott in free agency and didn’t let other teams win out.

Scott visited the Bengals last Thursday and the initial rumblings were that the two sides had a deal, or had at least verbally agreed to one. But nearly 24 hours passed before the deal was reported as final on Friday.

Now we might know why.

According to KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson, the Rams tried to retain Scott. Late in the process, the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers also got in the mix.

Instead, the Bengals got the three-year pact worth $12 million done, adding a veteran safety and Super Bowl winner with superb athleticism to play all over the secondary and help along Dax Hill.

It’s another very aggressive move by a Bengals front office going all-in, as highlighted by the Orlando Brown move.
