Bengals Coach Updates Joe Burrow’s Recovery Timeline From Calf Injury

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who was carted off the field during Thursday’s practice after suffering a right calf strain, will miss the next “several weeks,” coach Zac Taylor announced on Friday

Burrow, who was simply scrambling out of the pocket on a play near the close of practice, pulled up lame with the non-contact injury.

After briefly being looked at on the field by the Bengals' medical staff, the concern for Burrow was immense after he needed to be carted off the field.

When asked if Burrow would be ready for Week 1 against the Browns, Taylor was non-committal to an exact timetable.

“Several weeks is several weeks,” he responded.

In addition, when pressed about how much time Burrow would need to be ready for regular season action, Taylor said he thinks his star signal-caller is already seen enough action.

“Joe got more days this July than he has ever had in the NFL, so I feel really good about the progress we made during those July practices with Joe and when he is able to get back, we’ll be able to get in the work that we need,” a confident Taylor explained.

With Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning splitting the majority of first-team reps during Burrow’s absence, Taylor did reveal that he thinks there’s a “good chance” the team will add a quarterback to the roster in the coming days.
