The comeback for Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chidobe Awuzie is almost fully complete.
Awuzie has continued to ramp up his comeback journey this summer, the latest step his finally taking part in seven-on-seven drills at training camp on Sunday.
Before training camp started, the Bengals activated Awuzie off the PUP as soon as he passed his physical. The move was a signal that he was on pace for Week 1 after suffering a season-ending injury last October.
Awuzie’s return in this capacity doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be on the field for the final week of the preseason next weekend, but it feels like a clear sign he will be available for the opener to some extent. Next up is taking part in 11-on-11s, which should presumably happen this week or the next.
