Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is the next head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
Callahan, who earned a trio of second interviews with teams about head coach vacancies, isn’t going to leave Tennessee on Monday without a deal.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, both parties made the decision after Monday’s meeting.
Callahan was scheduled to turn around and have a follow-up with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday and another with the Atlanta Falcons, too.
Instead, Callahan will remain in Tennessee and take over the spot left vacant after the dismissal of Mike Vrabel after years of developing Joe Burrow and a Cincinnati offense that exceeded expectations with Jake Browning under center.
As always, quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher is the likely in-house promotion to coordinator when Callahan leaves, though he’s again getting outside interest for promotions too.
