Bengals’ best free-agent targets left on open market

Despite the major splash with Orlando Brown and a few other signings, the Cincinnati Bengals aren’t nearly done in free agency.

One glance at the team’s updated cap space says that much. But so does a market deep with talented players who, at this stage of free agency, might come at very affordable prices.

With projected needs at tight end, cornerback, running back and pass-rush, the Bengals can go bargain shopping for good production soon in a way that leaves the draft wide open.

In no particular order, here’s a look at some of the most notable free agents left the Bengals should want to target.

TE Dalton Schultz

One of the better all-around players at the position, Schultz has had a strange trip to market. He’d be an instant No. 1 on the depth chart and the Bengals should at least be asking what the price tag is.

CB Rock Ya-Sin

The Bengals haven’t officially brought back Eli Apple and even if they do (they should), adding further depth isn’t a bad idea. Ya-Sin is a bigger corner, nice depth and still 26.

G Dalton Risner

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

A 27-year-old guard who is good and pass-blocking and might be affordable, Risner would be nice depth.

DE Yannick Ngakoue

Robert Scheer-USA TODAY Sports

Ngakoue is an extremely productive pass-rusher who might want to be paid like an every-down player when he’s not. If he has to settle, he might do so with a contender and the Bengals would get a massive upgrade to the rush.

DL Matt Ioannidis

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Ioannidis has gone underappreciated his entire career. He’s still 29 and would provide nice interior depth for the defensive line and a good pass-rush.

TE Foster Moreau

Moreau visited with the Bengals, then went to visit the Saints. He’d be a perfect fit, reuniting with Joe Burrow after their LSU days.

RB Devin Singletary

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

Singletary is elusive, still young (25) and productive. He’s a very good scheme fit the same way he was with Josh Allen and the Bills and can surely be affordable.

S John Johnson III

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Johnson didn’t break out in Cleveland, but the traits are there and he’s still under 30. Adding him as veteran depth to the rotation even after adding Nick Scott would make sense.
