Bengals are a finalist for free agent RB Ezekiel Elliott

The Cincinnati Bengals are a finalist for free agent running back Ezekiel Elliott.

With the Bengals on the hunt for a Samaje Perine replacement, it sounds like the former Ohio State Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys star has eyes on the Bengals.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Bengals are one of three choices for the star running back: “Cowboys’ RB Ezekiel Elliott has narrowed down his options about where to play to the Eagles, Jets and Bengals, and he would like to make his decision about where to sign by the end of next week, per sources.”

This doesn’t explicitly clarify whether the Bengals have an offer in on Elliott, but it’s still noteworthy the two-time rushing champion and former Buckeyes star has an interest in linking up with Joe Burrow again.

Elliott turns 28 this summer and has a lot of carries on his resume so far. But he’s a fantastic pass-blocker, a trait that has kept running back Joe Mixon off the field in recent years in key situations. If Elliott takes a Perine-level role and contract, he’s perfect fit in a committee approach.

We already extensively broke down Elliott’s fit with the Bengals. The short answer? He’s a fantastic Perine replacement — at the right price.
