Bengals announce training room upgrades

The Cincinnati Bengals announced some major changes to the interior of Paycor Stadium this week.

According to the team, the training room is currently undergoing a massive overhaul set to conclude before training camp begins this summer.

Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com summarised the major upgrades:

Matt Summers, ending his first season as the Bengals director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer, is watching the roomy $3 million project create a recovery wing in the training room as well as expanding the rehab and treatment areas while keeping the trainers in the heart of the locker room…

…Thanks to a few walls coming down and expanding into some storage space, the players’ lounge with its massage chairs and compression units becomes part of the recovery ward with an expanded hydrotherapy room.

The writeup says the plans have been in the marking since last April, once Summers took over for Paul Sparling, who had been a fixture of the franchise for 44 years.

Cincinnati’s goal is an emphasis on recovery and smarter design connecting the entire interior.

While the news comes on the heels of the Bengals grading poorly in these areas on NFLPA report cards, these plans have been obviously in the works since the team started creating new revenue streams for stadium upgrades.
