Ben White replaces injured star in England squad as Trent Alexander-Arnold gets overlooked again

  • Ben White has received a surprise recall to the England squad after more than three years.
  • The Arsenal defender last featured for England at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, having previously asked not to be considered for selection.
  • White has got the nod over Trent Alexander-Arnold, with his recall coming due to injuries which has forced Thomas Tuchel to make changes to his squad for the upcoming international matches.
  • White replaces Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah, while Eberechi Eze has also been ruled out due to a calf problem.
  • Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes has been called up to replace Eze in the squad for games against Uruguay and Japan.
