Ben White outlines two key reasons for perfect Arsenal start after comeback win vs Fulham

Arsenal star Ben White believes the players' 'attitude and desire' are the reasons for the Gunners' perfect start to the Premier League 2022/23 season.

The Gunners are the only club to maintain a 100% record this season and currently sit top of the table after four games. Goals from Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Magalhaes saw Arsenal come from behind to take all three points against Fulham after Aleksandar Mitrovic's shock opener.

White finds himself starting the season at right-back following William Saliba's return at the Emirates Stadium, with the French defender being a revelation at the back for Mikel Arteta's side. Arsenal have the joint second-best defensive record after conceding just three goals in their opening four fixtures.

Speaking after the win over Fulham, White discussed why Arsenal have started the season so well as a busy fixture schedule awaits the Gunners heading into September and October. "It's outstanding," White replied when asked about the spirit at the Emirates Stadium.

"Gabi had a little hiccup, and the reaction that he gave was outstanding and helped us get the win, really," White continued.

Gabriel's mistake at the back allowed Mitrovic to sneak in and fire the ball past Aaron Ramsdale to put the visitors 1-0 up. White partnered the Brazilian at the heart of the defence last term but finds himself at right-back this season with Saliba impressing alongside Gabriel in defence.

"I think the attitude and the desire we all have every day in training is showing on the pitch now. It's obviously always nice to get the three points," White added.

"They made it tough for us, and we made it tough for ourselves with the goal, but the reaction from the boys was outstanding. With Fulham, you always have a physical game. They've got a big boy (Mitrovic) up top, and he's hard to handle, but the boys did well."

Arsenal's defence has stood up to each test they have faced so far, whether it's against Jamie Vardy running in behind or Aleksandar Mitrovic using his physicality to try and bully his way to a goal. White has settled into the right-back role well under Arteta, having played there previously for Brighton, and looks set to keep Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares at bay, with the 24-year-old set to retain his spot for the game against Aston Villa next week.
