- England captain Ben Stokes picked up his 250th Test wicket on day two of the third Test against New Zealand on Wednesday.
- Stokes is back to lead England in the deciding Test of the series, which currently stands at 1-1, after missing the second Test due to a curfew breach.
- He took one wicket on Thursday when he dismissed New Zealand captain Tom Latham, and he found his best form in Friday’s first session when he got the wickets of Daryl Mitchell and Will O’Rourke.
- His 250th Test victim was Mitchell Santner, although it came in controversial fashion, as there was some debate over whether the ball had actually hit Santner’s glove before being caught by Jacob Bethell.
- Stokes is now inside the top 10 wicket-takers in England’s Test history, with his side looking to fight their way back into the contest against New Zealand on day two.
