Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro are reportedly set to reunite on screen for the fourth installment of the Meet the Parents franchise.
They last appeared together in 2010’s Little Fockers, which was the third film in the series and served as a follow-up to 2004’s Meet the Fockers.
According to Deadline, they will also be joined by Blythe Danner and Teri Polo, who will reprise their roles as Dina and Pam.
No director is currently attached, but John Hamburg is set to write the script. Hamburg was behind the previous three films as well as Zoolander and Along Came Polly, which also starred Stiller.
The US publication further notes that De Niro and Stiller will additionally serve as producers on the film, along with Jane Rosenthal, Matt Reilly, Jacqueline Garell and Jay Roach, who directed the first two films.
The original film, Meet the Parents, was a box office smash, earning more $330m (£235m) following its 200 release.
Meanwhile, follow up Meet the Fockers, which also starred Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand at Stiller’s off-beat parents, was an even bigger hit, earning $522m (£409m) when it was released in 2004.
The films followed the awkward relationship between Stiller’s Greg Focker and his in-laws, played by Danner and De Niro, who appeared as a retired CIA agent and Vietnam war veteran who was very overprotective of his only daughter Pam (Polo).
There is no word as yet on a possible release date.
In recent years, Stiller, 58, has taken to largely working behind the camera.
Speaking about the career change during a recent panel at the Toronto International Film festival following the screening of a new Christmas movie, called Nutcrackers, he explained: “I’ve been working on projects as a director and producer for a while, and wanting to act, but I kind of made the choice a few years ago that I was only going to do something if it really hit me.”
